Taking your pets on holiday with you can be quite a daunting prospect but for many owners it isn't a proper holiday without bringing your pets. Many holiday cottage owners do not want pets in their accommodation because of the smells & increased cost of visitors bringing their pets with them. Couple this with a small number of irresponsible dog owners who spoil it for everybody else, it can be difficult to find dog friendly cottages for your holiday. Accommodation that does accept pets often have a restriction on the number of dogs allowed in each property so this is certainly something that you need to check prior to booking if you have more than one pet. Other cottage owners will only allow pets at certain times of year i.e. outside peak season - this is so that dogs don't frighten their largely "family orientated" clientele at this time of year.
If you want to take your dogs abroad there are various legal requirements in place such as your dog must be micro-chipped, vaccinated against rabies & have a valid passport. In addition, your pet must be treated for ticks & tapeworms not less than 24 hours or more than 48 hours before you come home. Please also have a look at the travel requirements - for example, some pet carriers require your dog to be muzzled whilst travelling.
